Congratulations to Cynthia and the Meta Book Club for winning the random drawings for this month’s Discussible Book Choice!
We enjoy hearing from book club members who share with everyone the book choices that made for lively discussions.. Please let us know what about the book contributed to your great discussion – you may win a book-related prize for every member of your reading group!
“Our group chose to read two books centered around Beijing China - Beijing Coma by Ma Jian and The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones. While Beijing Coma focuses on the government policies and development of the country as well as the tragic events of the Tiananmen Square massacre The Last Chinese Chef focuses on the country's culture in regard to its passion to the culinary arts relationships family and history. Four members of our book group are Asian, and they have provided wonderful asides to these selections that make for very satisfying discussions during lunch. These two books are highly recommended and are decent portrayals of a very complex country according to my esteemed friends. Please do enjoy these books!!”

More Discussible Book Choices
“We just finished reading and discussing Life of Pi by Yann Martel. The group had mixed opinions of the book. All of us agreed though that it was a very unique and odd story. We had more questions than actual opinions about the book. It definitely made you think.”

“The Coal Tattoo by Silas House was a book that I loved (I love all his books) and suggested for our book club. It led to some great discussion including what the title stood for.”
