“Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali generated one of the most amazing book discussions I've ever experienced. It is the autobiography of an extraordinary Somali-born woman who went from childhood in a traditional Muslim Somali clan to refugee in Kenya and Saudi Arabia to asylum seeker in the Netherlands eventually becoming a member of the Dutch Parliament and an advocate for the rights of Muslim women in the West. Fascinating and timely!”

More Discussible Book Choices
“One of our best bookgroup discussions was about The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I actually bought a first edition, signed copy of this book—my first ever. Interesting, exciting, mysterious and unput-downable. We all loved this book.”
Jayne, Bookworks331, Canton, MA
“We read Still Alice by Lisa Genova and had one of our very best discussions. We are mostly in our 60's and 70's and all know someone with Alzheimers Disease. This book was told from the patient's point of view. All the other books on this subject have been from the caregiver's observations. Even though the book is fiction, the medical and scientific information is all correct. I think any book club would find a lot to discuss if they chose this book to read.”
Frankie, Alliance Book Club, Napa, CA
“Our group enjoys almost any kind of book. A lot of us give suggestions on a book we have read about or read that we think others might like to read. We just read Where the River Ends. Some of us loved it, others didn't. We told why we enjoyed it or not. This was a book that touched each of us differently. The members of our group enjoy talking together, and have great laughs. Also, we go to lunch once a month to enjoy each other’s friendship. We are a mixed group of readers and try to read a little of everything no matter what it may be. We all love to read and to discuss with each other the books we read on different subjects.”
Diane, Kingsland Book Club, Kingsland, GA
“The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry. Brunonia Barry has created a story that is as intricate and textured as Ipswich Lace. Each chapter moves you along a beautifully woven path. Unpredictable—you will not be able to put this book down!”
Lynn, Burnsville Book Club, Burnsville, MN
“Our book club had a phone chat with Debra Dean, the author of The Madonnas of Leningrad. Not only did Debra patiently answer our questions, she gave us some personal background & discussed her research for writing the book. Wonderful experience!”
Sue, Broads Who Read Books, Saratoga Springs, NY
“Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah was thoroughly enjoyed by our book club 'StARs'. One of our members, after reading the last page, hugged the book to her chest and said, "I love this book!" We are looking forward to a sequel.”
Christine, StARs, New York, NY
