Selecting Discussible Books Since 1995
Tips for a Successful Author Conversation

Here are some suggestions to make the conversation comfortable for the author and your group.

*Schedule a Reading Group Choices’ author

*Have your group read the book – very important.

*Meet at least 30 minutes before the conversation to prepare questions for the author. Use questions from Reading Group Choices and other sources, as well as your own.

*Have an order of questions to prevent two or more people talking at once (very confusing for the author).

*Have everyone get a chance to speak to avoid one member dominating the conversation.

*Have members say their first names before asking a question of the author; this gives the author a feel of personal connection even though the chat is on the phone.

Have a fun and lively conservation!
